JAMMU: J&K police have attached immovable property worth nearly Rs 70 lakh belonging to a terrorism accused believed to be living in PoK, intensifying their crackdown on terrorist financing networks.
A police spokesperson said Sunday that the action targeted Mohammed Jahangir of Kalaban village in Jammu region’s Poonch district, charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Police identified and attached over 2 acre in Kalaban under Jahangir’s name.
The operation underscored J&K police’s intensified effort to choke financial and logistical lifelines of terrorist networks operating from across the border.
On Aug 30, police seized assets of Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen handler Mohammed Azam, involved in multiple terrorism-related cases. On June 24, property belonging to Mohammad Shafiq of Kadwah — under judicial custody for terrorism-linked offences — was attached.
In May, police took similar action against Mohammad Riyaz, a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative who crossed into Pakistan and now coordinates as a handler. Riyaz is wanted in several investigations.
