Send Push
Pokimane and LilyPichu's popular podcast, " Sweet N Sour ," has been put on hold due to internal conflicts over an episode featuring the controversial Twitch streamer Hasan. The situation escalated when production staff refused to upload the scheduled content.
Essentially, the staff cited concerns related to the ongoing controversy surrounding Hasan's use of a shock collar on his dog, Kaya. Following this, a series of events unfolded, resulting in the Sweet N Sour podcast being put on a hiatus.
Initial announcement about Hasan’s episode being cancelled
On October 11, the Sweet N Sour podcast posted a message explaining they would skip their Saturday upload. The statement read: “We’ve been watching the recent drama unfold concerning our guest and it’s been getting intense. We had a serious talk as a crew, and we all agreed that it did not feel right uploading tomorrow's episode at this moment in time."
It further added: “Our community is our favorite thing, and the reason we do this is to create a space that is comfy as always and a true escape. We do not want to impact the cozy atmosphere we’ve all built together.”
This wasn’t the end of the controversy, and Pokimane’s post on October 13 provided further clarity on this.

Pokimane clarifies that the message about Hasan was posted without approval
The situation took an unexpected turn on October 13. Essentially, Pokimane clarified that the episode was originally scheduled to air "as usual," but staff members refused to upload it without her approval. Added to this, she revealed that the public statement about skipping the episode was also posted without her consent.
She apologized to fans about all of this, and promised to address the situation during the upcoming week's episode. Following this, the show will go on a hiatus to restructure.

The Hasan shock collar controversy
Speaking of the main controversy, it originated from a viral stream clip showing Hasan's dog Kaya reacting off-camera after moving from a spot. Viewers interpreted the reaction as evidence of a shock collar being used. These allegations managed to gain a lot of traction, and the whole situation went viral.
In his defense, Hasan has denied using any shock feature, claiming the collar only provides vibration and that Kaya's yelp was unrelated to the device. Subsequently, he demonstrated the collar's functionality on stream to prove his point.
PETA has also responded to this controversy, calling for increased scrutiny regarding the use of such training collars on animals.
