Princess Anne may be Prince Andrew's sister, but it appears the hardest-working royal has started to run out of patience with the disgraced prince. While The Princess Royal, 75, has not commented on Andrew's recent scandals, a royal author has claimed that she is becoming "fed up" with him.
This comes just days after it was announced that Andrew was no longer going to use his royal titles as a result of accusations against him, which he continues to deny, following his past association with the late convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein. Since this announcement, Andrew has continued to dominate royal news, especially after the lease of his Royal Lodge home was published.
While the Royal Family are attempting to move away from the Andrew drama, continued developments continue to pose a challenge.
This is also believed to be the case for Princess Anne, who is supportive of her elder brother, King Charles, who had to put pressure on Andrew to give up his titles, in this situation.
Royal author Christopher Anderson told US Weekly: "Anne has long sided with The King. She is as fed up with Andrew as Charles and William are."
Princess Anne has not publicly commented on the matter or addressed her brother's scandals.
In his statement, Andrew said that he was aware accusations about him - which he continues to deny - have distracted from the work of the Royal Family.
He wrote: "In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.
"I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.
"With His Majesty's agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me."
