The M6 motorway was closed for hours today after a major crash last night. The motorway was closed between junction 28 (Leyland) and junction 27 (Standish). At one stage, motorists experienced delays of more than two hours and a clear-up got underway.
A man in his 50s died as a result of a collision last night, which involved a car driving the wrong way down the motorway. Two other men in their 40s, one driver and one passenger, were rushed to hospital. The crash happened at around 9.33pm on Sunday night.
