The special edition of Celebrity Traitors has finally made its much-anticipated return to our screens, with a host of familiar faces entering the infamous castle.
The beloved BBC programme bounced back onto our screens last week, boasting a line-up of 19 celebrities ready to fill the roles of Faithfuls and Traitors, all vying for the chance to win a whopping £100,000 cash prize for their chosen charity.
The first two episodes certainly didn't disappoint, as Claudia Winkleman selected her trio of traitors and the series' inaugural killing was executed - in broad daylight.
The designated Traitors are Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns, while the rest of the group take on the role of Faithfuls, tasked with unmasking the Traitors through their deceit.
Among the recognisable faces is Irish actress Ruth Codd. But who exactly is the 29 year old and how did she rise to fame?, reports the Daily Record.
Ruth Codd made her professional acting debut in 2022, starring in Netflix's suspense-filled series The Midnight Club.
Despite this being her first major role, she was already somewhat of a known figure, having amassed a substantial following on TikTok.
Reports suggest that Ruth had over 670,000 followers on her account, which she cultivated during the covid lockdown. She gained popularity on the social media platform for her sharp wit and humour, as well as her makeup and hair tutorials.
Although she deleted her TikTok at the onset of her professional acting career, Teen Vogue reports that it was here that she first caught the eye of casting directors for The Midnight Club.
In a chat with Teen Vogue about her TikTok fame, she revealed that it happened "by accident", stating: "I started it after being laid off as a barber because of COVID. I really enjoyed it, but when it started becoming more like a job, I was like, 'Life's too short. You don't have to do it'."
In The Midnight Club, Ruth portrayed Anya, the roommate of Ilonka. Her character, who had a right lower leg amputation due to bone cancer, uses a wheelchair for mobility. in real life, the actress also underwent a leg amputation at a young age following a foot injury.
Besides The Midnight Club, Ruth has made appearances in other productions. This year, she lent her voice to the character Phlegma the Fierce in How to Train Your Dragon.
She also took on the roles of Juno Usher in The Fall of the House of Usher and Peggy in Small Town, Big Story.
The Celebrity Traitors continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
